Nubi Tribe is a family, minority and women-owned Minnesota-based company that designs and manufactures Afro-centric accessories, apparel and home decor. The concept of Nubi Tribe (originally Nubi Company) was developed when Nancy Ellis (Owner) was out shopping for her youngest son's (Daniel) newborn clothing years ago. There were no bright colorful garments that reflected ethnicity. She was disappointed, but not for long.

Nancy started Nubi Company in the early 2000s, to create clothing for diverse families across the country. Nubi Company grew by working with local seamstresses to produce hand-sewn clothing for infants and toddlers. Over the years, Nubi Company continued to flourish - selling clothing in the Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis, Minnesota, craft fairs around the metro area and even launching a brick and mortar location in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. Shifts in the market caused Nubi to close their brick and mortar boutique, focusing on fulfilling custom orders to families as needed.

After years of producing infant and toddler wear, Nubi Company re-launched in 2020 as Nubi Tribe. Our family is committed to working with and employing people of color to continue to support and uplift the tribes of individuals, families and entrepreneurs that build and sustain the American economy.
